HUNDREDS of Fijians flocked to Ratu Sukuna Park yesterday to witness and give freely to the first interdenominational gospel concert to help raise funds for victims of Severe TC Winston.
Organising committee member, Pastor Tuimasi Vuetaki of the Hope Unlimited Church in Suva, said the concert included a freewill offering and all money collected would be directed towards the Prime Minister’s Relief and Rehabilitation Fund cyclone account.
Thanking every Fijian who gave towards the restoration of the lives of those affected by Severe TC Winston, Mr Vuetaki said they were immensely grateful for the support received from members of the public.
He said although the concert was not as big as the one organised by members of the Fiji Performing Rights Association, they were glad to be used as vessels of honour for God in receiving freewill offering for the victims of the cyclone.
“We’ve engaged Westpac Bank staff to come and count the money and then deposit it into their vault,” Mr Vuetaki said,
Some of the big names in the local gospel music scene who participated yesterday were Sekove Raikoro, former Vodafone MIC winner Nasoni Saloma, Kini Cava Jr, Accalewaz, New Covenant, One Soul Ministry, and The Kommission.
